Founded in 1949 as "Metallwarenfabrik Heinz-Kettler," the company initially produced aluminum kitchenware. In 1952, it shifted its focus to camping furniture, marking the beginning of its success. The PICCOLO camping chair, launched in 1958, became KETTLER's first iconic product, with production reaching 18,000 units per day by the late 1960s.
During the 1960s, KETTLER diversified into playground equipment, winter sports, and household products. Key innovations included the KETTCAR, a popular children’s vehicle, and the relax health lounger, known for its versatility. Bicycles also became a flagship product, transitioning into fitness equipment. In the 1970s, KETTLER revolutionized the home fitness market with rowing machines, ergonomic equipment, and weather-resistant table tennis tables.
By the 1980s, the company expanded internationally, introducing advanced fitness ranges like BASIC-Line and AXOS. Between 2006 and 2018, KETTLER focused on mid-range and professional-grade fitness equipment, producing bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, and power stations in China and Germany under strict quality control. In 2019, the HKS range also began manufacturing in China.
In 2021, KETTLER launched a new line of professional gym equipment designed for durability and comfort. By 2023, the brand introduced state-of-the-art cardio and strength equipment, solidifying its position among the global leaders in fitness innovation.
